What is The Lunar Pause?

A gathering of women on the new and full moons to reflect on ourselves and hold community in a way that remembers internal and external cycles, while honoring ancestral traditions.

Why on the New & Full Moon?

Until modern times, the moon marked the passing of time – 13 (ish) moon cycles in a year, 13 months. Ancient civilizations may not have lived on the perfect 365.2422 day year, but they lived by the flow of nature, which is how we’re designed as humans. (Your hormones don’t care about the Gregorian calendar.) Gathering on the new and full moon is both biological and ancestral.

Where & When Do We Meet?

For now, location varies until I find a consistent meeting spot that works for us. Times will always vary based on nature. Please check individual event for further meeting details.

What to Expect & How to Prepare

New Moon: We will meet at sunset. We will do a meditation followed by reflection and journaling. Then we will have a sharing circle and community time. Light snacks will be provided.

Full Moon: We will gather shortly before moonrise and set an intention. Then we will go on a short hike (1 mile or less). After, we will have time in community.

These gatherings are primarily for reflection and community. The practice is what you make it. You may choose to connect with God, Spirit, universe, or your higher power. Or you can just use this as a time of simple self-reflection. This isn’t a religious practice. It’s a time to connect with yourself and with nature.

We will always start with something to get us in the moment, but consider how you can bring yourself into the present before you arrive.

What to Bring

  • Weather-appropriate clothing. If hiking, appropriate footwear.
  • A blanket (or two). We will be sitting on the ground, so a blanket to sit on and maybe one to snuggle with. If you prefer a camp chair, please feel free to bring one.
  • A journal and a pen/pencil
  • Flashlight, lantern and/or headlamp. During meditation and night hikes, please try to refrain from using unnatural light.
  • Thick, natural-fiber socks if you’d like to ground in chillier temps
  • Water or beverage of choice
  • A snack to share if you choose (not at all necessary)
  • Please leave your phone in the car

Investment

$5. This covers snacks and ensures everyone’s commitment to the event. If you cannot afford the investment, please reach out. This event is open to all, and I don’t want money to keep you away from community and connecting with nature.
